I thought I should let you know that we've picked a new site for TravellerCon 2010. Details are being worked out but we will be remaining in Lancaster, though we will be out on Rt. 30 and not in the downtown area.
The contract for the hotel is being issued this week. We have negotiated a room rate of $95 per night. This will include complimentary breakfast (a hot buffet or a hot comped menu).
The hotel will start the breakfast service early to accomodate our morning game schedule.
Once I have the basic contract, I'll talk to the hotel about having a sandwich cart for them who need a mid-game bite.
Hotel has a cosy corner just outside the meeting hall where attendees can sit and read by a gas fireplace. Also, there will be a late night hospitality suite (how hospitable, we'll see) where participants will be welcome to kick back and chat about Traveller or whatever. More of this anon.
Parking is plentiful and free.
There are plenty of easy to reach restaurants, either by foot or by auto.
There is space to grow.
Cons: Space will be tight for vendors, though we will be able to fit three. We won't have the flexibility we had at the Brunswick to pull up a table for walk-in vendors. This means vendors will be required to register in advance, just like the players/GMs. No registration means no space. Sorry.
Registration has been moved back two weeks to April 15th (Tax Day!) just so we can run these last few details to earth. Many of last years games are finally leaving jumpspace (helluva misjump) and will be reappearing on this year's schedule.
